The King Rebel edition by Michelle Morrison Romance eBooks
Meghan Innes was the older teenage daughter of Oengus Innes, head of a small clan in Scotland. He was a rough, severe man, having become more so after his wife and two sons died and no matter how Meghan tried, she could not live up to his demands. After her mother died, Oengus removed anything from the premises that resembled civilized living and taught his daughter to oversee raising of the crops and sheep and various tasks normally performed by a son.At this time King Edward ruled England and he had removed King John of Scotland for failing him. Then Robert Bruce of Scotland declared himself King of Scotland and attempted to gather all of the Scottish clans behind him to fight King Edward and win Scotland's freedom. However, Oengus supported the head of the Comyn clan who denied Bruce as King, claiming a right to the Scottish throne. And such is the setting for this romantic adventure which encompassed Meghan falling in love with Black William, not knowing he was a cousin to Robert Bruce. Black Williams had a reputation for taking advantage of women, but Meghan was swayed by his looks, his charm, and he became the knight of her heart. He intended to ask her father for her hand in marriage, but when Meghan approached her father about that, he told her that William was a Bruce and he would not allow it. He had been pressing Meghan hard to marry so he would have a grandson to lead the clan.
While raiding sheep from the English, Oengus was captured and Meghan went to Robert Bruce pledging their clan to him if he helped her get her father released. William was sent with her to London to talk to King Edward and the rest of the tale is filled with an off and on again passionate romance, daring and dangerous escapes, wars, and treachery with enough Scottish brogue thrown in to make it live for the reader. It is a page turner and I liked it. I recommend it for interesting, fast, light reading.

The King Rebel edition by Michelle Morrison Romance eBooks Reviews
This is the second of Morrison's books I've read and I'll be reading more. I enjoy how she crafts her obstacles for the protagonist and love interest to overcome.
I'am not a romance reader so I was surprised that I really enjoyed this book. The characters are well delveloped and the story line flows smoothly. Meghan is a strong level headed young woman that will do what is needed to benefit her Clan and win her father praise. William is handsome and strong willed also he will do what is needed for his clan. Humor and intrigue, battles, and love, this combination makes a good read.
This book has it all History, romance, intrigue, treachery, and wit.
Meghan Innes, daughter and heir to her clan must marry to appease her father, as women did not lead a clan of course. Her father is loyal to the dethroned King of Scotland and chooses his son for Meghan. She, however, has fallen in love with the new King's cousin, Black William, though unaware of his family. In a Romeo and Juliet like dysfunctional family, will loyalty or love prevail?
The author's vivid descriptions will take you right to midieval Scotland; the landscape, dress, sights and smells, and Scotish accents as well. Passion overflows between Meghan and William as well as the struggle for truth in motives. Their destiny remains unknown until the end!
Plot is simple yet interesting, the scenes and twists are action-filled, exciting and downright funny especially with characters like Hamish. My eyes were glued from start to finish. I love love the main characters and their complicated romance. The pacing was just right, the flow, despite the flashback, was continuous, the transitions, seamless. It has balance. And most importantly, the narration led me straight inside the book. Highly recommended. A must-read.
The novel is a fun adventure through Scotland and England, including the unlikely travels of our two main protagonists, moderately salacious amorous scenes interspersed with classic depictions of the temper of a red-headed lass, and of course the expected mysteries, misunderstandings, and miscommunications dogging the progress of a budding romance between a beautiful and headstrong lady and a heart-stoppingly handsome and equally stubborn gentleman.
It has been a long time since I have taken the time to read a novel...This book is gripping in the first 5 pages...to the point of not wanting to set it down as I was immediately taken into the two main characters lives, had I not had to work I would be finished with it. I am only through the half-way point in the book and had to write a review as it is a true pleasure of a read...definitely going to want more from this author!!!
I am a fan of historical Scottish romance. Really a delightful read loved the characters and the story. I would definitely recommend!
